Today is my birthday, and to celebrate I took a solo lunch at the restaurant of the Grand Mosque. Where I was seated, in the outer courtyard, was shaded by three large fig trees.
They were pruned into a perfect canopy, and young figs were beginning to grow. A lovely facet of a lovely place!
Yesterday my wife and I walked to Uniqlo to buy some work clothes and underwear. On the way, we passed a restaurant with an impressive number of plants around their terrace. One of these plants was a bizarre fig tree, pruned so as to look more like a bush! See him pictured below.
On Sunday I took a soothing walk around the Jardin des Plantes. It was a beautiful spring afternoon, beginning to feel more like summer.
I was excited to spot this tree on the edge of the botanical school gardens:
A funny broad fig tree, happy in the brilliant sunlight! He had a nametag too:
The Rouge de Bordeaux, I imagine, refers to its fruit. Perhaps we’ll see some soon and can judge for ourselves.
